Kempinski Blog Article
For a guaranteed hit of adrenaline, excitement and fun, a trip to an amusement park is a wonderful experience. Across the world there are countless roller coaster-based attractions out there, but for those wanting to visit the best available, you may need to travel a little to discover them. To make sure you get the thrills you and your family desire, here are our favourite five in the world.
PortAventura Park, Salou, Spain
Located on the sunny Costa Dorada, PortAventura Park is a must-visit for people that want to combine the hot southern Mediterranean sun and amusement park fun. The park, five minutes from Salou and an hour from Barcelona, is split into six areas, themed on the Far West, the Mediterranean, China, Mexico, Polynesia and SésamoAventura (Sesame Street).
All of these zones feature exhilarating rides, including the fastest rollercoaster in Europe, good restaurants and a wide variety of heat-beating water park amusements – from young children to far bigger kids, there is a lot to explore.
Europa-Park, Rust, Germany
The largest in Germany and the second most popular theme park in Europe, Europa-Park is a must-visit for thrill-seekers exploring the continent, with a wide variety of rides and experiences throughout its Europe-themed walkways. Practically every country on the continent is touched upon, from Italy to Scandinavia, and each contains its own magical themed attractions.
Europa Park is a two and a half hour drive from the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt and around a four hour drive from the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski – perfect for a daytrip or stopover.
Magic Kingdom, Orlando, Florida
The Floridian city of Orlando is the undisputed home of theme parks, and the Magic Kingdom is perhaps its most famous and longest-running destination.
Below the fairy tale towers of Cinderella Castle there is all kinds of family-friendly fun to enjoy, including Adventureland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland and Fantasyland – each taking visitors on a delightful, pleasure-packed journey through the most notable Disney works.
Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark
The second-oldest operating amusing park in the world, Tivoli Gardens has been entertaining excited visitors since August 1843, and was once a favourite of the famous children's writer Hans Christian Andersen. Exceptionally pretty and laid out in union with nature, the gardens are a real oasis away from the city, and are perfect for those who don't enjoy the over the top style usually found within most theme parks.
That's not to say adrenaline junkies aren't welcome, of course, and Tivoli Gardens has lots of fast-paced rides, one of which was built in 1914 and comes complete with carriages manned by brake operators.
IMG Worlds of Adventure, Dubai, UAE
A new theme park in Dubai, IMG Worlds of Adventure is located in the City of Arabia area of Dubai and is the largest indoor theme park in the world.
Only 20 minutes’ drive away from Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, IMG Worlds of Adventure is sure to delight visitors, whether they are exploring the Marvel, Lost Valley, or Cartoon Network adventure zones, or catching a film at the 5D cinema.
The amusement park features costumed super heroes, dinosaurs, thrilling rides, special events and even a haunted hotel. It is a fun day out, and one that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
