Vogue demonstrated it best in their handbag style guide for the season - oversized bags are out, and more practical styles are back in. This means sensible colours (think black, sand, burgundy and deep greens) and luggage that is appropriately sized for getting on and off the belt at baggage claim.
However, sensible colours and sizes can be brightened up a little with a subtle pattern too - think Louis Vuitton for that degree of sophistication, or opt for something minimal and chic with Michael Kors - a good choice for men and women, and ideal for weekend trips.

This year has seen a wave of new technologies and gadgets come to everybody’s attention, and the luggage industry is no exception. From self-weighing cases to bags that house battery packs for smart phones and tablets, luggage has well and truly been brought into the 21st century this season.
Bluesmart boast a range that can be locked digitally - only your phone can unlock it - as well as featuring a proximity alert, essentially ending the anxiety at baggage claim as you wait for your case to appear on the conveyor belt. Similarly, the Kickstarter project Space Case 1 promises to deliver a case with a global tracking device and a personal concierge service that works through your smartphone. It is early days for the smart case, but it is certainly something we expect to see more of in the next few years.

When we have to rely on busy airports and airlines to get our luggage from place to place, from all corners of the globe, there is no such thing as being too safe when it comes to your luggage. From security-conscious wallets to protected luggage, this year has seen plenty of additions to the security luggage market.
Pacsafe have designed a thorough range of products that have all got security at the heart of their design - think protection from pickpockets as well as the risk of bag-slashing or snatching. Of course, travelling in a mindful way can help eliminate those risks without a dedicated bag - but always be sure to follow advice to ensure you are as safe as you can be!
