While my role is a selling point for the hotel,” says Jirapatsorn Jantranikul, a Lady in Red at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, “I find it truly empowering as it allows me to personally connect with our guests and deliver truly great service.” Jirapatsorn is filled with pride every time she steps into the lobby to greet her guests. “To me, excellent service means perfection,” she says. “But great service also comes from the heart. When you genuinely care and show that you want to help them as if you were looking after members of your own family, guests feel that. Great service is not just about the quality. It is also about the warmth.”
Jirapatsorn has been a Lady in Red at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok since 2011, two years after the concept was introduced across Kempinski worldwide as a quality mark of exceptional service. Jirapatsorn loves meeting people from different walks of life, cultures and social backgrounds. She is eager to hear their stories and help make their stay memorable. She enjoys spending time with children especially.
“When we play at the Kids’ Club, I can really allow my imagination to fly. We have fun, re-enacting characters from a famous movie or fairy tale. My work is rewarding and creative while allowing me to be genuine and remain true to who I am.” Growing up in Bangkok in the Buddhist faith, Jirapatsorn was taught to treat others how she would like to be treated. “I believe that all people come into our lives for a reason. What you give is what you get, so it’s only natural to be good to others. Connection with people is key. We all have good days and bad, so it is important that our guests are surrounded by people with a positive attitude.”
Jirapatsorn loves her job. “What I like the most is that there is no routine. Every day, I learn something new, either from my colleagues or the guests. I’m on an endless journey of self-improvement, and I feel empowered to help our guests to see something new and extraordinary every day.”
One of her most memorable guest stories involves planning a marriage proposal. “We communicated to each other via email and planned to set up the scene from when they arrived at the airport since his girlfriend didn't know about the trip. We hired a cameraman to capture their car arriving. Once they arrived in the room, she was surprised with flowers all over the room and a video of photographs taken throughout their time together. It ended with a ring and him asking her to get married. They hugged each other and cried with happiness. After a year, they came back and showed us their wedding ceremony.”
Starting at the hotel six years ago as a Lady in Red for the pre-opening, Jirapatsorn now leads a team of five Ladies in Red looking after VIP guests. She is proud to be a mentor, sharing her experiences with other Ladies in Red around the world. “We support and encourage each other. We are a team, we are a family, and yet we are part of something much bigger.”
