Dubai, October 20, 2011, Director of Information Technology at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, Prasanna Rupasinghe was awarded the title of IT Person of the Year at the presentation ceremony for the prestigious Hotelier Middle East Awards 2011, held in Dubai on October 19. The award was accepted on behalf of Rupasinghe by Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates’ General Manager Alejandro Bernabé.

The highly respected annual awards honour various front and back-of-house roles within the hospitality industry. This year saw 19 categories being contested for with judging conducted by an independent panel of hospitality experts.

General Manager Alejandro Bernabé praised Rupasinghe on his win saying: “Prasanna continuously looks for ways to improve the manner in which we serve our guests in addition to constantly upgrading the user-friendliness of our IT systems to allow staff members to operate quickly and more efficiently. Best of all, he does so with an eye on the bottom line. Prasanna has a great ability to balance budgets while still ensuring we stay ahead of the competition in terms of the IT systems and processes we use.

In addition to Prasanna Rupasinghe’s win, Haitham Assem and Franklin Kiamco were among the short-listed nominees in the Marketing/PR Person of the Year and Fitness & Recreation Person of the Year categories respectively at the 2011 awards ceremony.
