15th Anniversary of Lady in Red

The ‘Lady in Red’ represents the hotel group and embodies Kempinski's aspiration to offer its guests a personalised and unmistakable luxury experience. This year, this icon is celebrating her 15th anniversary. 

Dressed in elegant red, the ladies are the hotel's ambassadors and personal contacts for guests. They leave a lasting impression with their excellent service and personalised attention. They assist guests from arrival to departure, take care of special requests and ensure that their stay is perfect down to the smallest detail. The ‘Ladies in Red’ are present in all Kempinski hotels worldwide and have become a symbol of style, attentiveness and hospitality. To mark the anniversary, the ‘Lady in Red’ 2025 will be honoured in all hotels with a month of special celebrations. 

Partnerships with exclusive brands emphasise the importance of the ‘Lady in Red’. One of the most prestigious partnerships is with the Italian luxury label Salvatore Ferragamo. Ferragamo outfits the ‘Lady in Red’ with customised accessories such as shoes or handbags that are perfectly coordinated with the red outfit.

“When I say that we are proud to represent the Kempinski brand, I probably speak for most of the Ladies in Red,” says Franziska Maurer. She is currently one of three Engelberg Ladies in Red - due to her promotion to Front Office Manager, she will soon no longer be slipping into the red dress herself, but will remain connected to the Ladies in Red as their supervisor. 

Sofiia Zaliubovska, who was recently promoted to Lady in Red, is also proud of her role. “The role is really something special, not only in terms of appearance, but also in what it represents. Being part of something so iconic and meaningful makes me feel like I can go above and beyond every day, to be able to surpass myself every day.” 

For regular guests in particular, the Lady in Red is immensely important. It's often the little things that make a stay unforgettable - but sometimes it's also bigger events: “It's always something special when you can support guests at unique moments such as weddings or birthdays and create unique memories for the guests, but also for yourself, through decorations and fulfilling special requests,” says Freya Louise Torff, who also takes on managerial tasks as the newly appointed Guest Relations Supervisor. 

In addition to such highlights, Franziska Maurer also remembers a somewhat unusual wish: summer guests requested fresh cow's milk straight from the farmer to their room every day. “Fortunately, we are well connected up here and were actually able to fulfill this wish.” The three Ladies in Red are looking forward to the anniversary celebrations this summer - for once, they too will be surprised.

LADY IN RED ANNIVERSARY DESSERT

For the anniversary season, our Chef Pâtissier Valeriu Petcu together with his team has created desserts inspired by the favourite delicacies of the Ladies in Red in Engelberg. The name of the first creation is fitting: "Red Inspiration." The Dacquiose cake, from southwest France, tempts with caramelized apple compote and milk chocolate fondant. "Walz" is a "Pain de Gênes" from Italy with a light strawberry mousse, wild berry jam, and mascarpone ganache.

What better way to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Lady in Red than with a fine cocktail in red at The Palace Bar? The infamous “Bubbly Berries” serves as the basis for the cocktail. First, Belvedere vodka is infused with red berries and then filtered, rounded off with a little syrup and topped up with champagne.
