Inside the Kitchen: Michelin-starred Head Chef Jonas Zörner Opens his Doors to Passionate Food Lovers

Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer presents two new exclusive packages

The Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer has long been regarded as one of the capital’s finest culinary destinations. Now, the iconic Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is inviting connoisseurs of fine cuisine to go further than ever before with two new packages. The first takes guests behind the scenes to see how the Michelin-starred restaurant’s exquisite dishes are created, before sitting down to enjoy a modern six-course menu, topped off with several surprise gifts. The second offers that same six-course menu paired with an overnight stay in one of the hotel’s spacious suites and curated Adlon gifts. Both are available on selected Saturdays until the end of the year – an exceptional experience to enjoy or give as a gift.

The highlight of the first package is an exclusive kitchen visit with Michelin-starred Chef Jonas Zörner. Once a month, from 14:00 to 17:00, he takes on the role of ‘private chef’, welcoming culinary enthusiasts into the award-winning kitchen alongside his team. Guests encounter the aroma of spices, the preparation of freshly caught seafood and the careful reduction of sauces – all the elements that come together to form a Michelin-starred menu. Those who wish to go further are welcome to lend a hand in the Adlon kitchen – working with herbs, filleting ingredients and using tweezers to arrange edible decorative flowers on a plate. In between, Jonas Zörner and Head Sommelier Hans-Martin Konrad invite guests to sample delicacies from the kitchen and wine from the cellar, giving a preview of the evening ahead and its flavours.

Amidst the fragrant aroma of copper pots, the gleaming golden heat lamps above the head chef’s counter and the skilful teamwork of the entire kitchen, patisserie and service staff, the atmosphere of dedication in the Adlon’s previously secret gourmet kitchen becomes palpable during this private visit.

‘Our cuisine is driven by passion, an uncompromising commitment to quality, precision and curiosity. When guests experience this atmosphere for themselves, a very special connection is formed with what is later served to them on their plates,’ says Head Chef Jonas Zörner.

That connection becomes the thread running through the evening. In the elegant dining room, guests are seated for the current seasonally inspired six-course menu, served by the experienced team led by Restaurant Manager Oliver Kraft. Each course now tells a story they have followed from the very beginning – from the selection of top-quality ingredients and menu development through to flavour creation and final presentation on individually curated tableware.

Highlights include exquisite carabinero prawns with Imperial caviar, wild mackerel from Portugal with white asparagus and veal tongue, black hake with bouillabaisse, Büsum prawns and monk’s beard, Wagyu short rib with pointed cabbage, cider and cranberry, as well as saddle of lamb from the Polting estate, all of which feature among the highlights of Adlon’s current gourmet menus. A melt-in-the-mouth dessert of yoghurt, kiwi and white Valrhona chocolate, finished tableside with the finest honey, provides a harmonious finale to the menu.

The package also features exclusive guest gifts including champagne and exquisite amuse-bouches as a gourmet welcome, an Adlon-made surprise to take away and the recipe for one of the restaurant’s signature dishes. It also includes a chef’s apron from Jonas Zörner’s team, personally signed by him – a keepsake for the home kitchen, so guests can feel inspired by Adlon’s culinary craftsmanship.

The Lorenz Adlon Experience Package, including the backstage kitchen visit, exclusive surprise elements and the six-course menu with aperitif, wine pairing, mineral water and coffee, is available from EUR 1630 per person or EUR 2080 for two people. For guests wishing to extend their stay, the package can be combined with an overnight stay from EUR 2400 for two people in a Junior Suite Brandenburger Tor (single occupancy from EUR 1950), including the Adlon champagne breakfast with caviar, late check-out until 14:00 and full-day access to the new wellness area on both arrival and departure days.

Guests who prefer to experience the restaurant without the kitchen visit may book the Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer Package, which includes the six-course menu with an aperitif, wine pairing, mineral water and coffee. The package also includes an overnight stay in a room or suite of choice with champagne breakfast with caviar, late check-out until 14:00 and full-day access to the wellness oasis on both arrival and departure days, as well as personal Adlon gifts. Rates start from EUR 1385 for two people in a Deluxe Room (single occupancy from EUR 825), subject to availability.
