Culture in UAE, Dubai

On your next visit to Dubai, you will find that the UAE as a nation is a unique example of tolerance between people of different beliefs, nationality and culture. Dubai is politically and economically stable, and is extremely accepting of western cultures and practices, which makes it a safe and hospitable environment to visit – whether this is for business or pleasure.

Islam is the official religion, but the UAE recognises the right to practice other faiths, and there are many Christian churches and other religious assembly points across the city.

Women's Rights

Women’s rights are equal to those of men, and females are not expected to cover up – in fact bikini-clad women are a regular sight on Dubai beaches. However, cultural sensibilities do prevail, and as such, overly revealing clothes are frowned upon. The key is to simply dress appropriately, and ask for advice if you are ever unsure as to what might cause any controversy.
