Located in the UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Mosque is considered the country’s key place of worship.
Designed and built to unite the cultural diversity of the Arab world, Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the largest mosque in the UAE and displays both historical and modern features. Constructed between 1996 and 2007, it has the capacity to hold 41,000 worshippers beneath and between its 82 domes, 1,000 columns and beautifully decorated ceilings.
The structure also features one of the world’s largest chandeliers, one of seven in the building that all feature thousands of Swarovski crystals, and a world-renowned lighting system that ensures the place looks amazing, even after the sun sets. There is also the main prayer hall’s carpet – the world’s largest – that took 1,300 carpet knotters two years to make.
Don’t miss an opportunity to visit one of the region’s most stunning structures, located an hour and a half from Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates. The mosque is open between 9am and 10pm each day except Friday morning and afternoon, when it is closed to tourists (but open to worshippers) until 4:30pm, when it reopens to the public again.
