Asia's 50th best restaurant 2013

Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok was voted as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013. The inaugural list was announced at a gala event in Singapore on 25th February 2013.

Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin, opened at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok in September 2010 and offers a modern interpretation of Thai cuisine. Behind beautifully composed food presentation, familiar flavours of traditional dishes are maintained while the chefs push the boundaries of form, texture, and temperature.

“We are extremely proud to have achieved this tremendous recognition for Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin’, said Henrik Yde-Andersen, the founder of Kiin Kiin. ‘The success was only made possible by the effort and passion of Morten Nielson, our Chef de Cuisine and his staff as each and every one contributed to this accomplishment’. Kiin Kiin in Copenhagen is currently the only Thai restaurant in the world holding a Michelin star.

Holger Schroth, General Manager of Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok added, “We took a risk with the unconventional concept of Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin but this award now confirms and strengthens our determination to provide creative culinary experiences to the guests in this and our other restaurants at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.”

Editor’s Note:

Sra Bua (‘Lotus Pond’) was launched by Kempinski in 2010 to connect European flair with Pan Asian cuisine. ‘Sra Bua by…’ is not a restaurant concept but a platform for a European Chef to add his signature on the theme of Asia with no limits other than his own creativity. The strength of Sra Bua by…’ lies in offering as many variations on the theme of Asia as there are restaurants. Each Chef uses his own local ingredients, but all the Chefs have a single source of inspiration: Asia. There are currently three Sra Bua restaurants at Kempinski hotels in Bangkok (Thailand), St Moritz (Switzerland), Kitzbuehl (Austria) and soon to open in Berlin (Germany).
