Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras has been awarded as the best TREND Top 2018 hotel in Slovakia

Bratislava, 15 March 2018 - Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras has retained the prestigious TREND Top 2018 award this year again and became the best hotel in Slovakia for the fourth time running. It scored the highest number of points, i.e. 18.5 out of 20. The hotel’s Grand Restaurant was awarded among the top ten restaurants, and hotel sommelier Matus Hamara is considered one of the top Slovak sommeliers based on the awards.

“We feel deeply honoured to receive the prestigious TREND Top award this year again. It proves that we are on the right path. Every year, we do our best to offer something special to motivate our guests to come back again when they find everything that they expect from us. Achieving this is the biggest reward we can imagine,” said Kathrin Noll, the general manager of Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras.

The hotel is proud of the culinary art offered by the Grand Restaurant, which has been ranked among the Top 10 restaurants in Slovakia. It’s the whole restaurant team that is behind the success. For half a year, it has been led by Miroslav Zamiska, who replaced previous chef Tomas Tejbus. “We are very happy to be classified as one of the ten best restaurants. I want to continue with the current concept along with my team. We plan to keep focusing on the exclusivity of local ingredients, but would like to add something modern to traditional Slovak meals as well,” explained chef Miroslav Zamiska.

Among other things, the Kempinski hotel can pride itself on Matus Hamara, a multi-talented wine expert, who has been awarded among top Slovak sommeliers. “It makes me feel happy to watch our hotel be ranked so high every year. As we are located in the heart of Europe, one can taste wines from all around the world at our hotel. However, I prefer serving exceptional Slovak wines mostly. They are very special for their nature, which emphasises the overall atmosphere of our hotel even more,” said Matus Hamara.

The restaurant category of the TREND Top 2018 awards focuses mainly on the quality of meals, service, environment and the quality-price ratio. As far as hotels are concerned, it is service, facilities and the quality-price ratio that are most important. Hotels and restaurants were visited by TREND jury members between June 2017 and March 2018, and evaluated by the so-called mystery shopping again, i.e. anonymous visits.
