The Capitol Kempinski Concertini – Music Series is a collaboration between the hotel and concert organisers Sing Jazz and Vamp Productions and will feature top-class acts from around the world. A series of performances have already been planned for the rest of the year.
The festivities kicked off on the theatre’s actual birthday, on 22 May 2019, with a performance by Buena Vista Social Club songstress Omara Portuondo, who coincidentally also turns 89 this year, and is currently on her final world tour, Last Kiss. This night of Cuban delights also included performances by the Ernesto Enriquez Trio and the Havana Social Club.
Next up, Argentinian-Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter Jose Gonzales will take to the stage on 11 July, followed by British singer, multi-instrumentalist and YouTube jazz star Jacob Collier, who will perform on 10 September. On 18 September, the theatre will host Earth, Wind and Fire Experience, featuring Al McKay. Acts for the remainder of the year are being firmed up.
