An Art-Inspired High Tea Experience Rooted in Nature’s Rhythm
Step into a vibrant garden of flavour with Joyful Harvest, a seasonal afternoon tea in Bangkok that brings together the culinary finesse of Executive Pastry Chef Franck Istel and the vivid imagination of Thai pop-art artist Sasipan Siriporn, also known as AuraCherryBag. This creative collaboration celebrates the quiet joy of growth, inspired by the meditative act of tending to a garden and the ever-changing beauty of nature’s bounty.
Served at the elegant 1897 Lounge, this high tea in Bangkok reimagines the traditional teatime experience through a playful collection of handcrafted desserts and refined savoury delights. Each creation reflects Khun Aura’s signature collage style — layered, colourful and joyfully imperfect — interpreted by Chef Franck through delicate techniques and seasonal ingredients.
The menu features garden-inspired sweets such as Morello Cherry with Madagascar Vanilla, Sicilian Pistachio Chantilly with Raspberry Jelly, and Lime Fromage Blanc with Strawberry Crémeux. On the savoury side, discover elegant bites like Poached White Asparagus with Bresaola, Amaebi Ceviche Basket, and Creamy Blue Swimming Crab topped with caviar.
Paired with a fine selection of premium teas, Joyful Harvest is more than a Bangkok high tea — it is an invitation to slow down, savour the moment, and find wonder in every detail.
Meet AuraCherryBag
Mixed Media Artist • 2019-Present
Sasipan Siriporn, known by her artist name AuraCherryBag, is a rising star among the new generation of Thai artists, specialising in mixed media. Based between Bangkok and Tasmania, she creates vibrant collages by layering paper, fabric and painted textures — merging colour and form to explore themes of nature, mindfulness and quiet transformation.
Her process is intuitive and meditative, embracing spontaneity and imperfection. Inspired by leaves, petals, fruits and everyday landscapes, each composition becomes a reflection of life’s beauty in flux. Aura’s work invites viewers to pause, observe and reconnect with the present moment through rich textures and joyful colour.
Introducing Chef Franck Istel
Executive Pastry Chef, Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok
Born in the patisserie-rich city of Strasbourg, France, Chef Franck Istel discovered his culinary path early, beginning his apprenticeship at the age of 15 in a traditional Alsatian brasserie. Fascinated by the precision and poetry of pastry-making, he pursued formal training and earned diplomas in both pastry and baking — disciplines that continue to shape his approach today.
By the age of 21, Chef Franck had opened his own pastry boutique, where he refined both his technical artistry and leadership. His journey soon expanded across the globe, taking him from the remote charm of St-Pierre et Miquelon to dynamic culinary capitals throughout Asia. Over the years, he has led pastry operations at many five-star hotels and luxury resorts, where he has trained teams, developed signature menus, and elevated pastry experiences with creativity and finesse.
Chef Franck’s style is a thoughtful blend of classical European technique and playful innovation, often inspired by the richness of Asian ingredients and traditions. His creations are known for their balance, beauty and a touch of joy.
