Launch of the new Mercedes A-class

Portoroz, 17 July 2012 - The biggest automobile event in Slovenia hosted by Kempinski Palace Portoroz. Company Daimler AG, the general representative of the brand Mercedes-Benz has chosen Slovenia and the Kempinski Palace Portoroz for destination of the worlds’ launch of a new generation of Class A.

From 18th of June until 15th of July 2012 over 1.200 worlds’ journalists and over 250 high representatives of Daimler visited Slovenia for the new launch of the Mercedes A-Class held at the Kempinski Palace Portoroz.

With the new A-Class, Mercedes-Benz is opening up a new chapter in the compact segment: markedly emotive in design, with powerful engines ranging from 80 kW (109 hp) to 155 kW (211 hp), extremely efficient with emissions from just 98 g of CO2/km and a best-in-class drag coefficient of 0.27.

The journalists arrived on the Jože Pučnik Airport in Ljubljana where they received one of the versions of A-Class and drove towards Vipava to Restaurant Zemono. After lunch they continued the exciting drive to the Slovenian coast, to Kempinski Palace Portoroz, where the invitees were welcomed.

In the afternoon a press conference with the representatives was held, where they presented all the characteristics about the car and sales results for the future. As well they had a chance to try the sport version of the Mercedes A-Class, where they push the car into extreme conditions on the Portoroz Airport runway and feel the adrenalin of a sports ride.

The excitement continued on into the evening with a gathering on the Crystal Hall terrace, where the Executive Chef Curt Daniel Scheffler impressed them with live cooking and culinary delights.

The next day after breakfast they left for Ljubljana in another version of the car, where they had lunch in Bistro Zvezda, a tour around the old part of the capital and later returned to the airport.
