Palace Hotel is celebrating its most valuable among all anniversaries - centenary.

One hundred years was Palace hotel connecting our destination with Europe and one hundred years was Europe through the hotel exploring and visiting our destination. Portoroz with the wider area had a key identity with Palace Hotel. Therefore, every changes made to this hotel are also changes of souls and hearts of thousands of people who lived here and with it and sat knit deep emotional ties to Palace Hotel.

Opening of celebration started on 9th of April with reception for former employees who worked in 50ties, 60ties, and 70ties in Palace Hotel. Reception for former employees was full of memories, emotions and background stories of old Palace Hotel. Reception for former employees followed the opening of the exhibition under the name: “A hundred rooms it has – but only one heart” which has aroused great interest of media and visitors. Exhibition will be held at the Kempinski Palace Portoroz until July when it will join to a bigger exhibition prepared by Institute Mediteranum.

Institute Mediteranum Piran, an organisation for preservation of Mediterranean culture, will also publish prestige 240-page book / monograph about Palace's history with many photos on 15th of July, authors Mr. Simič Sime and Mr. Tomi Brezovec who have been working on book for 5 years.

Kempinski Palace Portoroz will celebrate its 100th birthday this year with many events that will culminate on 20 August, when the hotel travels back in time to the day it opened, year 1910.

The celebrations will include exhibitions, classical music concerts in the hotel's own park, tango nights, open air cinema, and chess tournament in October. Football fans will be able to watch all football matches in the hotel’s park in the time of FIFA World Cup.

Heads of state, movie stars, famous composers regularly appeared in the hotels registry after its opening in 1910. Guests at the old Palace Hotel included, among others: Josip Broz-Tito, the film actors Marcello Mastroianni, Sophia Loren, Yul Brynner, Pierre Brice, and Lex Barker, the American actor and film director Orson Welles, the Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelić, the Greek composer Mikis Teodorakis, and the popular Italian singers Rita Pavone, Patty Pravo, Mina, Adriano Celentano and Bobby Solo, Bobby Fisher on Chess tournament.
