In 1705, the famous Elector Augustus the Strong had the baroque Taschenbergpalais built opposite his residence and seat of government – a gift for his mistress, Countess Constantia von Cosel. References to this connection can still be found in the hotel today, be it in the colour scheme of the interior with historic blue and sage green, the custom-made furniture and the Queen Suite, in which even the art on the walls is reminiscent of the former royal mistress.
