Accra, 24 December 2024 – This festive season, hotel guests visiting Ghana’s only 5-star luxury hotel are being treated to an awe-inspiring Christmas tree decked with designer jewellery bags and festive ornaments crafted with locally designed beads, white pearls and crystals.
In partnership with Adubea Jensen, a renowned Ghanaian luxury brand, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra unveiled the showstopper tree at its annual tree lighting ceremony graced by the Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, several dignitaries, guests and clients of the hotel.
Standing over five metres tall, the tree is adorned with over 220,000 handmade beaded ornaments and jewellery worth more than a quarter of a million Ghanaian Cedis. Meticulously crafted by skilled local artisans, the beaded ornaments have been intertwined into stars, snowflakes, hearts and colourful mini handbags that glitter in the festive lights illuminating the Christmas tree.
In a statement by Hanno Barkhoff, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, he elaborated that this year’s tree stands out not just for its elegance but for its Ghanaian craftsmanship and culture, as the ornaments bring a touch of Ghanaian heritage to the hotel’s festive centrepiece. The initiative underscores Kempinski’s commitment to support local communities and preserve cultural artistry.
‘This year, we are delighted to partner with Adubea Jensen, a Ghanaian designer, to create an exceptional Christmas tree. Standing proudly in our lobby, the tree adorned with locally crafted ornaments is a beacon of joy and togetherness,’ he said.
CEO of Adubea Jensen Design, Janet Addoye shared her excitement for this partnership, saying, ‘We were thrilled to be offered the opportunity to decorate this wonderful Christmas tree, which stands proudly in the hotel’s lobby, telling a story of resilience, heritage and exquisite craftsmanship.’
The festive display is open to the public, inviting all to immerse themselves in the joy and beauty of the season.
