The first warm rays of sunshine, colourful spring flowers and chocolate-themed Easter treats leave no doubt: the long-awaited outdoor season is finally back, bringing with it many spring delights beloved by guests at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin.
From April through to at least September, a visit to the Adlon promises unforgettable culinary experiences on the relaxing terrace of the iconic hotel. No longer an insider tip, guests can now enjoy the unique view of the Brandenburg Gate in the open air paired with exclusive gourmet cuisine, a combination unmatched anywhere else in Berlin. Whether it’s an aperitif or sundowner, sparkling champagne cocktails or favourite wines, coffee specialities, ice cream creations with flavourful strawberries from the Adlon patisserie or hearty dishes like the Adlon Caviar Stulle with grilled toast, warm Gruyère cheese and fried egg – there is no more luxurious way to enjoy the German capital.
‘Cheerful faces, longer days and mild evenings – spring has finally arrived and brought a breath of fresh air to our beautiful terrace!’ said Karina Ansos, Managing Director of the hotel. ‘Our entire kitchen and service team has put their heart and soul into preparing special Easter delicacies and springtime treats that our hotel guests, Berliners and day visitors shouldn't miss out on’.
Gourmets eagerly await the arrival of asparagus at Brasserie Quarré, which offers a full range of classic asparagus dishes in the impressive setting of Pariser Platz. Fresh from Beelitz, the noble ‘king vegetable’ is served with French cooked ham, salmon fillet, grilled king prawns, Brandenburg corn-fed poulard breast or a small Wiener Schnitzel – complemented by a choice of aromatic nut butter or homemade hollandaise sauce. An asparagus salad with Stracciatella di bufala and balsamic strawberries, which have a fruity yet subtly acidic flavour, along with a velvety cream of asparagus soup with chervil, citrus fruits and pike-perch dumplings, will tantalise the taste buds and create a complete menu centred around the white ‘garden gold’. The new Quarré menu, however, offers an even greater variety to suit every taste, with dishes such as risotto or quiche each accompanied by green asparagus, lobster soup, fried scallops with saffron sauce, tagliarini with freshly shaved truffle and parmesan, as well as Berlin veal liver with apple ragout. Also featured is the restaurant’s signature marinated beef tartare, which is available daily from 12:00 noon.
Spring has also arrived at the modern Adlon To Go-Coffeeshop, located next to the main entrance of the traditional hotel, where individual ice cream in a cone or cup, iced coffee, iced chocolate and Italian-inspired affogato – espresso refined with creamy vanilla ice cream – are offered. The range also includes a variety of coffee specialities for those in a hurry, along with seasonal tartlets featuring rhubarb and strawberries, as well as sweet and savoury snacks to enjoy immediately or take away in recycled dishware. The original Adlon cake, a melt-in-the-mouth chocolate dream that sweetens every afternoon visit to the Lobby Lounge & Bar, is also available for purchase here in various sizes, each packed in wooden boxes as an attractive Adlon souvenir.
The crowning highlight of the upcoming gourmet offerings is the Adlon Champagne Holiday Brunch on 20 April from 12:30 to 15:30 on the Bel Etage, which is elegantly decorated in a festive Easter style. The particularly luxurious gourmet buffet on Easter Sunday features freshly fished seafood and oyster variations, tender saddle of lamb cooked to a perfect pink, Easter ham, halibut ceviche with coconut-mango espuma and black Tobiko caviar, rack of lamb, trout, Easter yeast bread, curd cheese dumplings with apricot filling, a selection of ice cream desserts and many other culinary temptations, leaving no Easter wish unfulfilled. (EUR 195 per adult person | EUR 95 for children, including champagne from the Taittinger estate, red and white wine, beer, soft drinks as well as coffee and tea specialities)
Guests who wish to enjoy the blend of an extended luxury breakfast and sophisticated lunch more often, with or without their loved ones, can look forward to the Adlon Champagne Brunch in Brasserie Quarré, where a regularly changing buffet is served on the last Sunday of every month from 11:30 to 14:30. (EUR 169 per person, including champagne from the Taittinger estate, red and white wine, beer, soft drinks, as well as coffee and tea specialities – upcoming dates: 27 April, 25 May, 29 June, 27 July and 31 August)
Only a few time slots remain for table reservations for the Adlon Afternoon Tea during the Easter holidays (excluding Easter Sunday), which features a festive menu with seasonal ingredients such as asparagus, pickled strawberries, elderberry flavours and scones shaped like Easter eggs, traditionally offered with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Served in three courses to the soothing sounds of a piano and the gentle flow of the Elephant Fountain, the classic Adlon Afternoon Tea continues to be a centre of attraction for lovers of English tradition, even after the holidays. (Thursday to Sunday from 14:00 to 17:00 | EUR 79 per adult person | EUR 39 for children | vegan option available)
