Local cuisine: Hunan cuisine, also known as Xiang cuisine, is one of the Eight Great Traditions of Chinese cuisine. It consists of the cuisines of the Xiang River region, Dongting Lake and western Hunan Province in China. The notable dishes are steamed fish head in chilli sauce, stir-fried meat with chilli peppers, smoky-flavoured mixed meat steamed together, etc.

Local conditions and customs: Changsha is a typical city with Hu Xiang cultural characteristics. Language, diet, folk customs, traditional streets and folk dramas all have strong Hunan characteristics. Traditional Hunan culture is represented by its hot and spicy Hunan Cuisine, Hunan Embroidery and Hunan Huagu Opera.
