This quaint Danube-side village is not just home to an old Serbian Orthodox church and romantically colourful winding streets, as its village park, Scansion, will, over Easter, become home to an Easter Festival. Complete with traditional egg painting, a spring awakening and a bunny fest, the festival aims to revive old customs related to spring’s most symbolic celebration.

Hollókő’s Easter Festival celebrates the joy of life, reviving traditions long forgotten to mark the occasion. Enjoy cultural diversions, presentations of traditional folk customs and regional “Paloc” culinary treats against the backdrop of Hollókő’s famous peasant houses and cobbled streets. There will be special programmes for children, while adults will busy themselves pouring well water over women dressed in their best traditional embroidered outfit – an old Easter custom to make sure women won’t wilt.
