Here you will find useful information to consider before and during your trip.
Vignette & toll
When you arrive by car from Austria and travel to Austria during your stay, it is important to know that a vignette for vehicles with a maximum weight of 3.5 tons is mandatory for driving on Austrian motorways and expressways. The easiest way to get a vignette is at the local petrol stations. Before driving on these roads, the vignette must be visible on the windscreen. If you do not want to buy a vignette, please take the exit Bad Reichenhall (coming from the direction of Munich). You can find more information about the vignette and the toll here.
In addition to the vignette, there is also a toll in Austria, which applies when driving on some tunnels and mountain roads. In Germany, tolls are also required for certain roads, as it is the case for the Rossfeld scenic road.
Especially in the winter months, snow and ice can be expected on the streets in the Berchtesgadener Land. For this reason, we strongly recommend winter equipment. On some mountain passes, snow chains are also required for certain vehicles.
In case of heavy snow, we ask you to drive via the town "Oberau".
