Kempinski Seychelles Awarded Third Consecutive Sustainable Tourism Label

Baie Lazare, Seychelles, August 2017This week Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare was informed that they have once again been awarded the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label (SSTL). This is the third consecutive time that the hotel has been recoginsed for their efforts to mainstream sustainability practices into their business operations to safeguard the biodiversity and culture of Seychelles.

The hotel celebrated by hosting a green-themed reception for all employees to thank them for their contributions and dedication towards achieving such a commendable goal.

The SSTL is a voluntary sustainable tourism management and certification programme that encourages, monitors and recoginises hotels in Seychelles that implement more efficient and sustainable ways of doing business. As tourism in Seychelles depends largely on the natural environment and pristine marine life, the importance of sustainable practices is very high.

Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare was one of the first five-star hotels to be recognised by SSTL back in 2013. Since then, the hotel has continiuously met the criteria assessed by independant SSTL assessors in bi-annual audits. After exceeding the minimum requirements to be certified by SSTL by almost 20% in 2017, Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare has once again re-established their eco-image as a responsible hotel that strives to protect and preserve the natural beauty of Seychelles.

“We are extremely proud to have been repetively recognised for our efforts to implement sustainable practises into our day-to-day operations,” said general manager, Masami Egami. “Our beautiful location in the South of Mahé is truly one our stongest assets and the perfect environment to offer unique experiences for our guests. We have an obligation to nuture and protect this unique habitat for future visitors to the islands and future generations of Seychellois.”

As a global company, which currently operates in more than 30 countires, Kempinski strongly believes it has a responsibility to integrate hotel operations into the life of the local communities in which it operates, by positively and reponsibly managing their local economic and social impact.
