On March 24th, World Tuberculosis Day, the management team of Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko organised several interesting and different activities. Keeping with the old tradition, they dressed in kitchen uniforms, and starting at noon time served food to the hotel staff in the staff canteen which was plastered with posters giving information about tuberculosis. Informational flyers with facts and figures had been placed in all hotel rooms and public areas to be available for the hotel guests as well.
Later in the afternoon, the team welcomed 30 students from the local primary school, who were invited especially for the occasion. The boys played football on the mini football field while the male managers assumed the role of officials. The girls demonstrated their skills in painting and at the end, gave a nice drawing of the Pirin Mountains to the hotel’s general manager, Mr Athanassios Manos as a present. He thanked them and said, “Today we mark together with you World Tuberculosis Day. Every year we organise various events and initiatives to commemorate it, but this year we decided to invite you to experience one different day and to show you why it is so special and important.” He further added, “This is our way to raise awareness about tuberculosis and educate you - the future generation of Bansko and maybe our future employees. I hope that you will remember this day and that you will share it with your families and friends helping us in the cause to reach more people, just like this year’s motto for World Tuberculosis Day: “Reach the 3 million”.
At the end he awarded the kids with certificates for support of the event and they enjoyed the delicious snacks, sandwiches, fruits and sweets prepared by the hotel chefs.
On the next day the management team delivered to all teachers in the school, Stop TB information kits and detailed presentations, so that they can continue educating the students further about this noble fight.
Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko’s team is already looking forward to next year’s World Tuberculosis Day having already in mind new ideas and further initiatives.
