Step into Wizard of Oz

Prepare to be transported over the rainbow and into a world of culinary enchantment. Capitol Bistro. Bar. Patisserie is launching its spectacular new Wizard of Oz Themed Afternoon Tea, an immersive gastronomic experience that pays homage to the classic tale through whimsical pastries and refined savoury bites.

The adventure begins with an exquisite selection of handcrafted savouries designed to delight the palate, including Cod Remoulade with a Charcoal Bun, Chicken Beetroot Baskets, and golden Ham Quiche.

For sweets, be treated to delightful creations inspired by iconic characters and symbols in the movie. Start with the Emerald City Citrus Meringue Tart, a dazzling, tangy green confection that sparkles with the promise of the great and powerful Oz, before moving on to the Ruby Slipper Chocolate Praline, a rich, decadent chocolate jewel to remind one there is truly no place like home. On the afternoon tea stand, one will also find the Tin Man Macarons and the Somewhere Over the Rainbow Cupcake.

For a thematic beverage experience, look forward to the Enchanted Emerald Milkshake (SGD 16++), a divine concoction of matcha and vanilla bean, alongside the refreshing yuzu and elderflower purple-hued Over the Rainbow Spritz (SGD 16++), and the apple-and-mint gin-based Wicked Witch Elixir (SGD 16++). Non-alcoholic mocktails such as the Ruby Slipper Sparkle (SGD 10++) and Yellow Brick Road Fizz are also on the menu to complement the experience.

Capitol Theatre

Under the banner of CLASSICS AT CAPITOL, look forward to an ongoing programme of cinematic masterpieces, meticulously remastered in stunning digital formats. Following a resounding inaugural season featuring sold-out screenings of Singin’ in the Rain (1952), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), and North by Northwest (1959), beloved favourites are returning to the big screen.

Starting this May is the timeless enchantment of The Wizard of Oz. Starring Judy Garland and adapted from L. Frank Baum’s novel, this fantasy-musical remains one of the most beloved, iconic, and influential films of all time. Follow Kansas farm girl Dorothy and her loyal dog, Toto, as they are swept by a tornado into the magical Land of Oz. Along the Yellow Brick Road, she befriends the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion, all while evading the vengeance-seeking Wicked Witch of the West.

Fittingly, The Wizard of Oz played at the Capitol Theatre when it reopened in 1940 with a brand-new air-conditioning system and re-upholstered seats. This upcoming screening marks the Singapore premiere of the film's 4K DCP restoration.
