Climate
With its tropical rainforest climate, Singapore does not have any seasons, and throughout the year one can experience uniform temperatures between 22 and 35°C (72 to 95°F), high humidity and abundant rainfall.

Language
Official languages are English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. The generally good command of English makes it easy for visitors to get around.

Currency
The local currency is the Singapore dollar (SGD), and prices are usually quoted excluding VAT and a service charge. All major credit cards are widely accepted.

Public transport
MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is the most convenient form of public transport in Singapore. Stations and vehicles are air-conditioned and, like all other places in Singapore, very clean. Most major attractions are in walking distance of MRT stations. City Hall station is located directly opposite the hotel and directly accessible through Capitol Singapore shopping mall.

Eating
Being a multicultural melting pot, Singapore offers a fantastic variety of outstanding dining options – from hawker centres featuring titbits from dozens of different ethnic cuisines to Michelin-starred restaurants. The main influences derive from Malay, Indian and Chinese cuisine, but Western food is also very well represented.

General Etiquette
Singapore is considered one of the cleanest cities in the world. Littering and chewing gum are strictly prohibited and result in severe fines. Also, eating and drinking on public transport and public smoking are not allowed.

Mobile Phones & Roaming
Many international mobile network operators have roaming agreements with local providers. For longer stays (30-180 days), local providers (Singtel, M1 & StarHub) also offer prepaid packages for calls and data.

Travel Adapter
Singapore uses 220-240 volts, 50 Hz AC and type-G plugs.

Medications and Narcotics
Some medications that are legal in many countries like Australia or the United Kingdom are restricted in Singapore. This includes some painkillers, cold and flu medications and ADHD medications. If you are ’re planning to travel with medication, you may need to apply for approval from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority. Please also be advised that narcotics and psychotropic drugs are strictly prohibited by the Government of Republic of Singapore and may result in severe penalties (including the death penalty).
