Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay’s Team Goes Green with a Clean Up Campaign This Earth Day
Soma Bay’s premier oceanfront resort demonstrates its commitment to conserving its crown jewel — the nature — with a clean-up day.
Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay’s team came together again to organise a Soma Bay Clean Up Campaign on the occasion of Earth Day 2018.
Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay has always believed that sustainability should be at the heart of a responsible business, and this initiative is a testament to that corporate mission.
It was an early start as the teams met at 7:00am in the various locations, with all the tools needed to comb the areas and clear away all plastic and paper waste. The staff and heads of department worked together to cover specific parts of the Soma Bay area, including the private beach, which is over 7000sqm. They raked the entire beach area and collected 15 rubbish bags of waste.
Keeping the natural surroundings pristine is important to Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay for reasons beyond aesthetics, as sustainability and environmental awareness are becoming essential for the operation of any hotel and its guests. The hotel management understands that preserving the marine life and coral reefs is imperative to remain appealing for tourists; therefore, keeping the natural habitat clean is part of their social responsibilities.
“Clean-up campaigns are crucial in keeping our islands beautiful, and we are proud to be part of the Earth Day initiatives, like this year’s one, with a special focus on ending plastic pollution.” (Lars Pursche, General Manager, Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay.)
