Sustainability at Kempinski

Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok remains committed to promoting best practices in sustainability, from community engagement to environmental conservation.

From gardens to rooftops, from restaurants to suites, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok fully embraces sustainability. The hotel maintains international standards for resource and energy efficiency and responsible community practices, including the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) framework and the EarthCheck Certified monitoring programme.

Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel proudly showcases LEED best practices in resource-saving and sustainable design. Its construction included conserving and then replanting older-growth trees from the original site to preserve the area’s native plant life, as well as using triple-layered glass to insulate the building from noise and heat, thereby not only soundproofing the rooms and suites, but also reducing air conditioning costs. Furthermore, the lush landscaping of the Chevaa Garden and outdoor terraces not only enhances the attractiveness of the hotel and its grounds, but also helps promote an eco-friendly environment in the centre of Bangkok.

The EarthCheck monitoring programme further verifies the hotel’s responsible operations, which include reducing plastic use, reusing and recycling paper and sourcing organic and free-range products. Guests will find paper straws and paper tetra-packed water cartons instead of polluting plastic straws and bottles. Double-sided printing and recycling paper is standard procedure for back-office functions. Also, all food and beverage outlets source locally grown organic produce and free-range eggs and chicken for their ingredients. Water conservation is practiced throughout the property, from low-flow bathroom fixtures to staff training in specific water-saving measures. This also includes the Green Linen Artefact Initiative, whereby staff change towels and linens every two days, unless otherwise requested by guests, with the placement of a Thai Heritage Gong.

Wherever possible, the hotel selects fair-trade and sustainable products for its rooms and facilities, including in the Executive Lounge and Sindhorn Wellness spa.

Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok also supports the local community through fund-raising and volunteering campaigns to aid those in need and to promote responsible practices.
