The famous Lipizzaner horses, recognised worldwide as one of the most elegant breeds of horses, come from Lipica, with Lipizzanner Horse Estate being home to the world-famous Lipizzanner Stallion. The estate is one of the most beautiful cultural and historical monuments of Slovenia, with historic roots dating back to 1580. This tradition of breeding and selecting purebred horses is maintained and preserved to this day. With an endless variety of tastes and local produce, we cannot choose a favourite, but recommend, while you are in Istria, that you do not miss the selection of local Istrian prosciutto, live-cut in front of your eyes and served with olives and homemade extra-virgin olive oil, an array of fresh Adriatic seafood, wild asparagus and, of course, black and white truffles from the Istrian hills.
