The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is the main mosque in the Sultanate of Oman, showcasing traditional Arab architecture and insights on the Arab culture, and featuring a huge, 20,000-piece library.
A stunning building crafted from beautiful, white sandstone, the mosque has five minarets and a huge central dome – the surfaces of which are intricately decorated with classic geometric designs.
The Mosque also features the second-largest hand-woven carpet in the world. Taking four years to be produced, it contains 1,700,000,000 knots and weighs 21 tonnes. Another major feature of the design of the interior is the chandelier above the praying hall – some 14 meters tall, it was manufactured by the lauded Italian chandelier maker, Faustig.
Whether you are exploring the mosque or enjoying the gardens that surround it, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a fantastic sight. Our staff are on hand if you would like to arrange a visit – simply call +968 2498 5721 or email email@example.com.
