A proper Bavarian atmosphere is guaranteed at the Munich Marathon. Traditional ‘Böllerschützen’ (marksmen, who do not use ammunition, just powder) send ten thousand runners on their parcours through the Bavarian metropolis.
The route will take them past the most beautiful sights of the city. Olympia Park, English Garden, Marienplatz, City Hall, State Opera House, Residence, the Pinakotheks, Odeon Place, Victory Gate and Leopoldstraße – there could not be a more attractive 42 km course for the marathon.
The marathon weekend will kick off with a colourful itinerary. During the two-day long sports fair at the Event Arena at the Olympic Park, sport enthusiasts will find everything that their hearts desire. New trends and products in the field of endurance sports will be presented on 5,000 sqm.
The traditional National Costume Run will set the mood for the festivities to come. Dressed in their local costume, the runners will meet up for a 3km run through the Olympic Park without any time pressure, but rather just for the fun of it!
