On 15 September 2018, the Great Catherine's Ball will be held in Moscow in the chateau park Tsaritsyno. The Great Catherine's Ball is a major annual event dedicated to the traditions and culture of the era of Catherine II. This ball is a special event in the cultural life of the capital and in the life of the Germans of Russia. It gives an idea of the epoch of the nobility, popularising the traditions proposed and spread by Catherine the Great.
The ball is a joint initiative of the International Association of German Culture, MaWi group AG and the Moscow German Newspaper (Moskauer Deutsche Zeitung). This year the ball will be held for the fourth time with the support of the Moscow City Council and other partners from Germany and Russia. The event is attended by representatives of state, social, educational and cultural structures of both countries.
As a prelude to the ball, on 15 September a large-scale festival of ball traditions will be held in the park Tsaritsyno. The festival will feature theatre performances, baroque dancing workshops, dance performances and much more.
In addition, a ceremony for the winners of the All-Russian Competition "Russia's outstanding Germans - 2018" will be held during the ball. The competition will take place for the eighth time, with the aim of promoting and recognising outstanding personalities of Russian-German descent who have made particularly great achievements in the fields of art and culture, science, education, society and sport.
We look forward to welcoming you on 15 September at 18:00 here: ul. Dol'skaja 1, Great Catherine's Palace Tsaritsyno. The main programme of the ball starts at 20:00.
