General Etiquette
The country’s customs, laws and regulations adhere closely to Islamic practices and beliefs. Exercise common sense and discretion in dress and behaviour, and dress conservatively. Women may wear dresses and skirts, provided they cover the shoulders and knees; shorts, short skirts and tight and revealing clothing are considered inappropriate.

While there is no legal requirement to wear the hijab, women shouldn't wear tube tops and skimpy outfits. In general the covering up of the shoulders, thighs and abdomen is appropriate for both genders - tank tops, spaghetti straps, or excessively small shorts are likely to garner unwanted attention.

Exercise particular care in your behaviour with others, especially officials, to avoid offending local sensitivities. Verbal insults and obscene gestures are impolite and may be considered a criminal act. Be mindful when talking to or asking local or Arab women for information or directions, if you are man.Public drunkenness or intoxicated behaviors are also highly prohibited as Qatar as it has strict rules regarding the consumption of alcohol.

The Holy Month of Ramadan
During the lunar month of Ramadan (the ninth month of the Muslim calendar), refrain from drinking, eating, and smoking in public between sunrise and sunset.
