David Lange

Food & Beverage Manager

For David, hospitality is more than a profession – it is a calling. At Kempinski Palace Engelberg, he treasures the creativity and dedication of his team and management, who constantly strive to refine concepts and create memorable experiences for every guest.

He describes dining at Kempinski Palace Engelberg as authentic yet diverse, with high-quality local ingredients at the heart of every dish. As a lover of Mediterranean cuisine, hobby fisherman and sommelier, David’s personal favourites include La Bourride, a traditional French fish dish, and Sea Bass with sauce bordelaise, artichoke purée and morels – always best enjoyed with a fine wine from the extensive cellar.

For David, the greatest compliment is seeing guests return again and again. Whether at a Cattani Collection evening or in the Palace Bar, where exclusive signature cocktails meet modern classics like Smash Burgers or Dynamite Shrimp, he takes pride in creating warm and elegant moments that linger long after a stay.

Beyond the hotel, David finds inspiration in Engelberg’s natural beauty. He recommends Führenalp, also known as Little Patagonia, and the hidden fire pit at Spisboden – both magical retreats to unwind and take in the stunning mountain panorama.

Marc Mischliwietz

Bar Manager

Marc loves the stunning views and loyal returning guests.

He describes the culinary experience as a mix of high-quality bar food, an exquisite restaurant concept, and the charming Chalet Ruinart in winter. His favorite item on the bar menu is the smash burger with truffle fries.

Marc is especially proud of positive feedback on the Palace Bar's Pisco Sour. For a quiet moment in Engelberg, he suggests walking a few meters up the valley ride during ski season, especially in the evening, to overlook Engelberg at sunset. His hidden gem recommendation is the paragliders' starting point on Brunni, where they glide with the best Titlis view.

On his days off, he enjoys outdoor activities like skiing in winter, and swimming in Trübsee and mountain biking in summer. Guests can usually find him in the Palace Bar area, though he's also often in the restaurant and other parts of the hotel. Marc advises guests to expect a delicious Pisco Sour and good tips for skiing and mountain biking in Engelberg, swimming in Central Swiss lakes, and exploring great spots for car or motorbike tours.

For first-time visitors to The Palace Bar or Cattani, he recommends coming for an aperitif to enjoy the pianist's music, or finding him in Cattani afterward.

Nick Florschuetz

Restaurant Supervisor

Nick shares his passion for hospitality and the hotel's unique blend of fine dining and a modern sharing concept. He values the peaceful, historic, and modern atmosphere of the Palace. His favorite dish is sole meuniere, a classic French dish. Nick's greatest compliment is when guests feel at home, creating a sanctuary from daily stress.

For Engelberg recommendations, he suggests Fürenalp and a monastery tour with a nun. On his days off, he enjoys the mountains, swimming in Trübsee, or simply admiring the panorama. Guests can find him at the hotel between 2 and 10pm, promising a cozy dinner with good wine, joy, and smiles.

His advice for first-time visitors to The Palace Bar or Cattani is to try and share various dishes to experience more.

Nick is seen as a curator of experiences, ensuring every meal is a thoughtfully prepared and joyfully shared story.

Rada Ramic

A Day in the Life of Rada at Kempinski Palace Engelberg

At the heart of the luxurious Kempinski Palace Engelberg, a dedicated host brings warmth and personalized service to every guest.

For this particular host, Rada Ramic, the essence of her work lies in connection - being with the people is what she loves most. This sentiment clearly resonates with guests, as one of her favorite compliments highlights the recognition of her role and the many friendly greetings she receives from guests.

When it comes to the culinary offerings, Rada enthusiastically describes the Kempinski Palace Engelberg dining experience as, "The best place in the town. There is always something special." Her personal favorite on the menu is the sole, a testament to her love for fish.

For those seeking the true specialty at the hotel, our host points to the overall experience. Rada believes the value lies not just in the price, but in "good service and the best food in town." And for those wondering what to expect when they visit, the answer is simple: "The best cocktails, wines and atmosphere." Guests can typically find Rada at the hotel during weekends and mostly in the afternoons, ready to enhance their stay.

Beyond the grandeur of Kempinski Palace Engelberg, she cherishes the natural beauty of Engelberg. Her go-to spot for a quiet moment or a must-see view is a walk to Gerschnialp. Equally warmly recommended are the "Sdiletterenweg" and a walk to Flühmatt as hidden gems. On the days off, Rada embraces the active lifestyle Engelberg offers as she enjoys hiking, playing golf, skiing, and having lunch at Trübsee.

Rada truly embodies the Kempinski spirit, offering not just service, but a genuine connection that makes every guest feel truly welcome.

Michéle Müller

Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food & Beverage

Michéle describes the hotel as a "living, breathing entity" with her "whole heart" in it. Starting in January 2021, she has influenced many details within the hotel.

Regarding the culinary offerings, she states there's "something for all taste buds," from casual bites to refined dinners. Her favorites are the passion fruit martini at the Palace Bar and sweet potato fries with jalapeños; the martini is her top recommendation for a Kempinski specialty.

Michéle finds true reward in guest connections, recalling a regular who cries with joy when seeing her and eating her food, highlighting the strong emotional bond she creates.

Outside the hotel, Michéle finds solace in Engelberg's natural beauty. Her preferred spots for peace and views are the surrounding mountains, especially Brunni and Fürenalp, which she enjoys year-round. For hidden gems, she suggests the church at the Kloster, specifically an "energy spot" in the aisle, or the tranquil waterfall, both believed to "give energy."

Her days off are spent outdoors—walking, hiking, or cycling in Engelberg—to "free her mind." At the hotel, she prioritizes direct guest interaction, preferring to be "in any of the outlets" rather than in the office.

For first-time visitors to The Palace Bar or Cattani, Michéle advises "sharing food" to try more. She also emphasizes experiencing all the hotel's culinary offerings: breakfast, a visit to the Palace Bar, afternoon tea, and dinner at Cattani, adding, "I would definitely say come hungry!"

Michéle's passion for Kempinski Palace Engelberg and her genuine care for guests elevate the experience, making each visit a memorable journey for the senses and soul through her dedication to every detail.
