Taifu Restaurant at Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou Presents the Essence of Cantonese Cuisine with Renowned Shunde Chefs

Fuzhou, 23 April 2025 – In celebration of classic Cantonese cuisine and the exploration of new directions in culinary and cultural fusion, Taifu Restaurant at Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou has officially launched its Shunde delicacies series this April. Two celebrated local Shunde chefs, Long Liushuang and Long Zhitian, each with over a decade of experience, have been invited to lead this regional showcase. The menu artfully blends the hallmarks of Shunde cuisine – freshness, crispness, tenderness and smoothness – with locally sourced ingredients from Fuzhou to create a refined dining experience.

Both chefs are well versed in the philosophy of Shunde cuisine. They source the finest local seafood and seasonal ingredients, blending them with traditional Shunde techniques to present a range of classic and innovative dishes. Highlights include Shunde-Style Braised Goose, Braised Chicken, Shredded Fish Chowder and Boneless Fish in Silky Congee Cream.

Taifu Restaurant draws inspiration from the spirit of Fuzhou, encapsulated in the phrase ‘Hai Nai Bai Chuan’, meaning ‘the sea embraces all rivers’. Its 18 private dining rooms are named after the ‘Classic of Poetry’ and ‘Li Sao’, and are framed by metal sculptures of Fujian's 10 most renowned mountains. Together, these elements create a dining atmosphere where alleyways and cityscapes intertwine.

David Zeng, Assistant Director of F&B at Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou, noted that Shunde – recognised as the world's culinary capital and the hometown of Chinese chefs – is defined by its commitment to preserving original flavours in cooking. With a wealth of culinary traditions and highly skilled chefs, Shunde cuisine continues to shine and enjoys widespread acclaim among diners worldwide. Guests are warmly invited to Taifu Restaurant to savour the authentic taste of Shunde cuisine.
