New Chef Takes Guests on an Authentic Southeast Asian Culinary Journey

Fuzhou, 27 May 2025 – To further enhance the guest dining experience, Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou has appointed Mr Cheng Ziqiang as Chef de Cuisine of Asian Dining. He will lead the upgrade and innovation of the K Coffee menu, marking an important step in developing a more diverse international dining offering.

Chef Cheng places particular emphasis on balancing the natural flavours of ingredients with the complexity of spices. His team has introduced more than 20 Southeast Asian spices, including lemongrass, galangal and pandan leaves, and uses authentic cooking techniques to recreate the region’s traditional flavours. In anticipation of the summer dining season, K Coffee will launch a ‘Southeast Asian Parade’ themed buffet, where diners can experience the tropical flavours of a Southeast Asian street night market.

Mr Cheng brings over two decades of experience in Southeast Asian cuisine and has held positions at a number of internationally renowned five-star hotels. Following his appointment, he will draw on his cross-cultural culinary background to introduce a wide range of innovations, including a menu featuring dozens of classic Southeast Asian dishes and a comprehensive upgrade of the overall menu structure.

As Fuzhou continues to grow as an emerging tourist destination, the local dining scene is becoming increasingly open to exotic cuisines. Southeast Asian food is very popular among local people’, said Ms Maggie Wang, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou. ‘I believe guests will enjoy an authentic and flavourful journey through Southeast Asian cuisine with Chef Cheng. There is no need to travel aboard – these vibrant flavours are now available right here at K Coffee.’
