Michelin Star Chefs are coming to KEMPINSKI PALACE PORTOROŽ to take over the kitchen of the Restaurant Sophia for one night.

Portorož, Slovenia – May 2017 – Kempinski Palace Portorož and its Executive Chef Daniel Pause will once more host the Guest Chef Events! Guest Chef Events are an annual series of culinary events, where famous chefs visit the Restaurant Sophia and prepare their culinary delights for the guests. Following Ana Roš (Hiša Franko), Janez Bratovž (JB), Tomaž Kavčič (Zemono), Andrej Kuhar (restaurant Vila Herberstein), Jure Tomič (Restaurant Debeluh) and many others, the new Guest Chef season is taking the event to a higher level, to a Michelin star recipient level.

For the fourth year of the events, an additional four exceptional individuals with spectacular cooking skills and a unique cooking philosophy are coming to Kempinski Palace Portorož. Each and every event will be unique and special in its own way and, most importantly, superb in culinary tastes. The hotel’s executive chef, German national Daniel Pause, will give control of the kitchen of restaurant Sophia to the Guest Chef for a night. The menu prepared will be unique and never repeated, as it is prepared specifically for the purpose of the event. The cost of one culinary evening is EUR 69 (excluding beverages) for the five courses of mouth-watering gastronomic delights.

The season begins with a recipient of two Michelin stars, the sea lover from Udine, Chef Emanuele Scarello (Restaurant Agli Amici 1887), on 30 May 2017. He is proud to be sharing his passion for cuisine with his wife, who is complementing his cooking delights with her knowledge of wine; she is a sommelier. Their passion and love for gastronomic experiences can be found in their restaurant in Scorze, near Venice.

The third guest chef will be coming on 17 September 2017, when the Austrian MasterChef Andreas Senn will arrive.
