Portorož, 27 January 2017 – The year 2016 has truly been a tremendous success and the hotel needs to revive and rejuvenate for the upcoming season 2017. The spring comeback will be full of new energy and ideas, new special offers and new experiences. Looking back at the year 2016, there have been many achievements and announcements and a lot of success.

Achievements of Kempinski Palace Portorož in 2016

Even though the year 2015 has already been marked as the most successful year for Kempinski Palace Portorož since its opening in October 2008, the hotel proudly announces that the year 2016 proved to be even more successful.

The success of the hotel cannot be pinned down to only one specific area of business; it is a conglomerate of many variables and gives to the hotel recognition of the hard and quality work that has been done in the past and serves as a stimulus, as the basis for the professional and hard work in the future.

This positive vibe results also in the numerous rewards the hotel has received this year. Kempinski Palace Portorož has been recognised as the winner in the Travellers’ Choice category in Slovenia for the TripAdvisor awards for Hotels in the year 2017. Kongres magazine has rewarded Kempinski Palace Portorož with a reward Meetings star. The hotel took first place as the “top congress hotel in Slovenia” and fourth place among “the best congress hotels in the region”. Hard work has also been recognised outside the borders of Slovenia, when Kempinski Palace Portorož took first place at SEEbtm (SEE business travel & meetings) 2016 awards in Belgrade. The hotel won the category “Best Seaside Hotel for conference and meetings (100-200 rooms)”.

Throughout summer, Kempinski Palace Portorož hosted a series of culinary events called Guest Chef Events, where guest chefs visited the Restaurant Sophia and prepared their culinary delights for the guests. These chefs took over the kitchen of Sophia restaurant for a night and presented their masterpieces and menus. The Guest Chefs hosted this year were Michelin recipient Andrej Kuhar (Vila Herberstein), Serbian rising star Filip Ćirić (Restaurant Homa), rock star among chefs David Vračko (Restaurant Mak) and “baby Michelin” and first man of JRE in Slovenia Jure Tomič (Restaurant Debeluh). As a sneak peek, it can be confirmed that the 2017 Guest Chef season will continue to grow and expand its horizons with internationally recognised and renowned Chefs; rumour has it there will be Michelin star recipients!

Kempinski Palace Portorož is proud to be environmentally aware and sustainably conscious. In the year 2016, a charging station for Tesla and BMW cars was implemented in front of the hotel. The service is provided to the guests free of charge and represents an added value for the guests.

There are many other important events, meetings, activities, presentations and exhibitions that took place at Kempinski Palace Portorož in the year 2016, but it is impossible to name them all.
