Best chefs from the region
Best Chefs from their region came to the KEMPINSKI PALACE PORTOROŽ to take over the Restaurant Sophia for 1 night.
Portorož, Slovenia – October 2016 – Throughout summer, Kempinski Palace Portorož hosted a series of culinary events, where guest chefs visited the Restaurant Sophia and prepared their culinary delights for the guests.
Following Ana Roš (Hiša Franko), Janez Bratovž (JB), Tomaž Kavčič (Zemono), Vesna and Gašper Čarman (Danilo) and many others, the new Guest Chef season brought an additional four exceptional names to the prestigious restaurant. There have been four guest chefs this season, all of whom have presented us with their personal, unique style, which varied from one chef to another.
The season started with a Slovene culinary legend, Andrej Kuhar (restaurant Vila Herberstein), recipient of the prestigious Michelin star, on 28 May 2016. Following the culinary legend was the chef who is a rising star of Eastern Europe and a chef whose restaurant has been nominated as the Restaurant of the Year in Belgrade, Serbia, Filip Ćirić (Restaurant Homa), on 11 June 2016. We continued with one of the most controversial chefs of contemporary cuisine in Slovenia, David Vračko (Restaurant Mak), on 4 September. Last but not least, the guest chef of the season has been the so-called baby Michelin Jure Tomič (Restaurant Debeluh), the first man of the JRE (Jeunes Restatateus) in Slovenia, with his haute cuisine with local ingredients, on 8 October 2016.
Each event was hosted in the prestigious Restaurant Sophia in Kempinski Palace Portorož, each unique and special in its own way and all of them superb in culinary tastes. The events were highly successful, with all of the events completely sold out.
We are kindly inviting you to visit us next year when the Guest Chef Events will continue!
