The Grand Canal

There are two wonders in China: one is the Great Wall and the other is the Grand Canal. As the earliest, greatest and longest artificial river in the world, the Beijing - Hangzhou Grand Canal is one of great historical and cultural importance. Even now, the Jiangsu - Zhejiang portion still remains open for transport, with many scenic spots and historical sites making it a hot touristic route. Hangzhou, located at the south end of the Grand Canal, still preserves the numerous living historical and cultural sites for waiting travellers to explore.
