Hesse champion of the apprentices comes from the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt

Neu-Isenburg, 10 March 2023 -A trainee from the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt took first place in the vocational field of chef at the Hesse championships in the hospitality trades. Philipp Zellmer convinced the jury with his menu, which he created and prepared from a given shopping basket. Zellmer, who is in his third year of apprenticeship, is thus the Hessian champion among the chef apprentices. With the victory, he has qualified to participate in the national DEHOGA apprentice competition at the national level.

"Of course, it makes me very proud that the best chef trainee comes from our hotel; this speaks for the quality of our training, which, in addition to the young man's great motivation, certainly made a decisive contribution to the victory," says Kai Behrens, Director of the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt.
The chef trainee thought up the 3-course winning menu himself. As a starter, he served the jury a poached char with apple and leek foam, leaf spinach and beetroot and barley risotto. The main course was a roast saddle of venison with juniper cream sauce, glazed turnips, steamed Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The menu was rounded off with the dessert: hazelnut pear tart
tonka bean sauce and light chocolate mousse.

Zellmer is not the first Hesse champion from the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt. Already in 2018, two apprentices were able to win the competition for themselves, winning in the professions of chef and restaurant specialist. "I am very pleased that young people are so passionate about the hotel industry; our apprentices are strong proof that the industry is still attractive for a professional career," Behrens notes.
