Post Matter Poetry - Tomasz Piars’s exhibition at the Kempinski Promenade Gallery

Budapest, 10 April 2024 – The Promenade Gallery of Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest presents the virtuoso abstraction of Tomasz Piars, a contemporary painter living in Budapest.

“For years, the Promenade Gallery within the downtown Kempinski Hotel has served as a beacon for the exploration of contemporary art and the latest visual expressions from young Hungarian artists. This spring, visitors have the opportunity to experience the newest series by Polish painter Tomasz Piars, who resides and creates in Hungary, thanks to the cooperation of Ar2day Gallery

Tomasz Piars is renowned for his highly conceptual approach, each series presenting a fresh arc of associations. The title, ‘Post Matter Poetry’, hints at a departure from traditional approaches to abstraction, which dominated the art scene worldwide in the latter half of the 20th century. While early pioneers focused on experimenting with painting materials or exploring geometric forms, Piars transcends these conventions with his breathtaking and approachable compositions.

Miscellaneous, Miscellaneous

Moving beyond commonplace trends, Piars infuses his works with playful cultural references, evoking microscopic crystal structures alongside the unfathomable complexity of the cosmos. His expansive colour palette stands as one of the broadest among contemporary artists. Viewers are drawn into the apparent chaos of geometric shapes, which seem to dance to the rhythms of music, creating a harmonious effect. In Tomasz Piars’ abstraction, painting transcends its tangible materiality, captivating audiences with apoetic resonance that lingers long after the viewing experience.” – Péter Antalffy, historian
