Budapest, 28 October 2025 — Naomi Devil’s exhibition, ‘Garden of Fantasy’, has opened in the Promenade Gallery on the ground floor of Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest. It will remain on display until the end of January 2026.
Naomi Devil (b. 1987) is a Hungarian-born contemporary painter whose work bridges realism, surrealism and the dreamlike territories in between. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the Department of Contextual Painting under Professors Markus Muntean and Adi Rosenblum. There, she developed her unique visual language combining classical technique with conceptual depth. Since then, she has established herself on the international art scene.
Her latest series, Garden of Fantasy, reimagines the tradition of still life painting in a vibrant and enchanting way. Drawing inspiration from the grandeur of European still life, Naomi breathes new life into the genre by presenting impossible fruits, lush blossoms and otherworldly flora that feel both intimate and cosmic. These fruits are not mere objects of desire or abundance; they are vessels of mystery, growth and hidden energy.
The fruits do not exist in nature. They appear to be hybrids – perhaps genetically engineered – strange and beautiful results of human intervention. With this series, Naomi addresses one of the most urgent concerns of our time: the loss of biodiversity due to global warming and environmental destruction. Yet her vision is not dystopian. Instead of depicting decline, she imagines a possible future where technology is used not to exploit nature but to enrich it, and where humans create new species that expand the beauty and diversity of our world.
By painting these fantastical forms with the precision of natural observation, Naomi Devil encourages us to reflect on the fragile balance between human invention and ecological survival. Garden of Fantasy asks whether we can envision a future in which creativity and science collaborate to preserve life, rather than accelerate its loss.
