What is Budapest famous for?

• Chain Bridge, 10 minutes on foot, about half a kilometre. Budapest's most photographed crossing, and a flat, easy walk to the river that works for every age.
• St Stephen's Basilica, 8 minutes, about half a kilometre. Climb the dome for the city's best rooftop view, or just sit in the square with an ice cream. Good for families.
• Opera House, 11 minutes, about seven hundred metres. A grand façade worth the detour, and a gentle stroll up Andrássy.
• Parliament, 18 minutes on foot, about 1.2 km. The riverside landmark, best seen from the Danube bank. A longer but level walk, fine with older children.
• Citadel, about 1.3 km. A hilltop climb rewarded with the widest view over the city. This one is a proper uphill walk, better for active families than small legs.
• Castle District, Royal Palace, Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church, about 1.3 km. A half-day on the Buda side: fairytale turrets, cobbled lanes and the best panorama of the Pest skyline. Take the walk over the bridge, or a short taxi if you're with little ones.
• Heroes' Square, Museum of Fine Arts and Hungarian National Gallery, about 2.9 km. Budapest's grand square and its two great art collections in one trip. Too far to walk with children; easy by metro.
• Széchenyi Bath, about 3.1 km. The famous thermal baths in the city park, a warm soak whatever the season. A ride out rather than a stroll, and a real family favourite.
• Fashion Street (Shopping), right behind the hotel, where fashion sits.

DIRECTIONS 

Arrival by car - on the Highway from West, Northwest, Southwest 
Arriving from Vienna/Bratislava/Prague/Zagreb on the M1/M7 highways, take the direction of Erzsébet híd (bridge). After crossing the river, take the first exit to get off the bridge with a small U-turn. Take the first street on the right and immediately turn right again in the direction of the Danube on the embankment side. Drive along under Erzsébet híd (bridge) until the second set of traffic lights, stay in the right lane and before Lánchíd (Chain Bridge), turn right again to cross the tram rails onto Széchenyi tér. Proceed along József Attila utca (street) to Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út (street), drive around Erzsébet tér (square), turning right twice, and after the traffic lights, you’ll arrive at Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest, which is the second building on your left and opposite the park. 
A ride from Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (BUD) 
The airport is 24 km/15 miles (ca 30-minute ride) from the centre of Budapest. Exiting the airport, take the Airport Expressway, following the signs to the city centre. Keep driving straight on the Expressway, which becomes Üllői út in the city, until you reach Kálvin tér. Cross the square, turning right into Múzeum körút (ring), which becomes Károly körút (ring) and ends in Deák tér, towards Erzsébet tér and the hotel is on the left. TAXI TRANSPORTATION 

Are Budapest taxis safe?
Please be aware all the taxicabs are yellow - non-branded and branded ones as well - and they all must use a meter and charge the same regulated fares. The official taxi companies are City Taxi, Főtaxi, and Bolt.  Drivers are expected to produce a receipt upon completion of the ride. Do not accept restaurant or club suggestions from the driver. We strongly recommend that you consult our Concierge Team about your plans and carry their contact number with you, should you need assistance when away from the hotel.

How to get from Budapest Airport to the city? 
The airport’s official taxi partner is Főtaxi. Head out of the Arrivals Hall and register your destination address at their branded booth. All Budapest cabs must use a meter, and the tariffs are regulated. Depending on traffic, the transfer to Kempinski Corvinus costs approximately HUF 16,000 (about EUR 45). You may take any other pre-ordered taxi from the platform over the Főtaxi lane. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer taxi pick up from the airport, from peers or train stations. Please note that there are unlicensed drivers offering their services in the arrivals hall. 

How to get from Railway Stations of Budapest to the city/hotel? 
Licensed branded taxis are available at the taxi rank outside the Railway Station. The fare to Kempinski Corvinus (ca 10-15 minutes) is approximately HUF 4,500-6,500 (ca EUR 10-15).

How to get from Budapest Airport to the city? 
You can also take public transport from the airport to the city. Bus 100E arrives directly at Deák tér, which is a mere block away (350 meters) from Kempinski Corvinus. Please note that the fare on 100E is HUF 2200. You can purchase your ticket at the automats or pay cash only onboard the bus.
