The annual showcase of Hungary, literally, at its most delicious - the very best in good food and drinks.
A bacchanalia of culinary delights, Budapest Gourmet Festival showcases all things flavourful and then some, at over 100 stands. The annual event brings together celebrity chefs, as well as future talent, vintners and distillers, artisan producers, fans and foodies, highlighting and drawing inspiration from either a specific ingredient or an overarching theme.
But the selection is not limited to one single concept or school - expect fine dining, street food, Pan-Asian pasta, Jewish bistro bites, dishes inspired by the indigenous mangalitza, or acorn-fed black pig, a duel of star chefs, tasting after tasting and, of course, Hungary’s pride and joy: fine wine and fruity palinka, complete with artisan breweries’ craft beer as well as all sorts of gastro suppliers’ goodies. If you have a soft spot for palatal pleasures, or take an interest in culinary skill, mastery and imagination, you will no doubt be satiated and satisfied. What’s more, you may also pick up tips and insight at the Festival’s Gourmet Academy!
Food being at the core of our sense of comfort and harmony, the occasion rises above its humble mission of presenting the wealth and diversity of Hungary’s gastro scene. It allows visitors to discover and explore the culinary aspect of Hungarian culture and history, whilst bringing friends and families together in a joyful context.
Setting up shop, or rather tables and stalls, at central Buda’s recently expanded Millenáris Park, Budapest Gourmet Festival finds its natural habitat amongst the re-purposed former industrial warehouses, meandering garden paths, playgrounds and lakes. It’s every bit as “buzzy” as green and tranquil, well worth a visit with not just your friends but with children.
