Moscow Tea Ceremony

Moscow Tea Ceremony

Every day from 12:00 to 20:00 we invite you to the Moscow Tea Ceremony at Café Kranzler and the Lobby Lounge bar.

Moscow Tea Ceremony at Hotel Baltschug Kempinski

Moscow has historically been the centre of the tea trade and tea drinking. Tea with cracknels and kalachas could be tasted in tea houses. From the middle of the 19th century it became trendy to sit outdoors with a samovar and the best hotels in the city began offering their guests exquisite tea blends.

Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow is taking part in the "Moscow Tea Ceremony" project, which aims to revive tea traditions. Every day from 12:00 to 20:00 guests can enjoy sets including tea, jam and pastries. In addition, the hotel's chef Andrey Kagokin complements the traditional tea ceremony with an assortment of canapés and sweets: vol au vents with red caviar, pancake canapés with pike caviar, goose liver pate on borodino bread with lingonberries, beef tongue rolls with mustard, canapés with soft-salted salmon and creamy horseradish, lemon tartlets, mini eclairs, truffle sweets and macaroni, plus fruits.

Tea can be chosen from several varieties: Moscow blend, herbal collections (lingonberry leaf, currant leaf, raspberry leaf or sbiten) or 3 kinds of Chinese tea (green, red and imperial white). Tea is served with traditional Russian pastries such as pretzels and saikas, as well as three kinds of jam, namely raspberry, blueberry and blackcurrant.

The cost of the sets is RUB 1,600 (tea, pastries, butter, jam, marmalade and handmade sweets) and RUB 6,000 (with an étagère with canapés and sweets*).

*The order for the étagère is accepted at least 2 hours in advance.
