The Taste of China

Berlin, 22 August 2023 – From 5 to 16 September 2023, guests at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin
will be surprised by traditional culinary art from China alongside predominantly German and French
culinary classics.

Chef Tian Yue from Kempinskis Chinese sister hotel in Nanjing is flying to the German capital for
the latest edition of the culinary series "The Taste of ...", which features cooking collaborations
between the Kempinski Groups popular luxury hotels around the world four times a year, to present
Berlin gourmands with the highlights of his award-winning home cuisine.

For "The Taste of China", he and his team have put together an exciting potpourri of authentic
delicacies from Huaiyang, Sichuan and Cantonese cuisines. Tian Yue comes from a family of chefs
and developed a passion for his profession as a child. Today, he has more than 10 years of
experience that began in Yangzhou and deepened while working for international luxury hotel
brands such as Shangri-La and Ritz-Carlton.

The ambition to impress his often high-profile guests with culinary delights, both visually and
tastefully, constantly spurs Tian Yue to new innovations. His craftsmanship and keen sense of local
Chinese cuisine have already won him several awards.

The guests of Brasserie Quarré will be spoiled by Chef Tian Yue with the following dishes created
exclusively for them for this occasion:

Antipasti
Preserved plum with cherry tomatoes – EUR 14
Spicy beef shank with green peppercorns – EUR 16

Intermediate dishes
Snow crab with bean curd soup – EUR 24
Huaiyang meatball soup – EUR 14

Main course
Jiang Nan style sous vide steak – EUR 36
Nanjing roast duck – EUR 33

Dessert
Sticky rice balls stuffed with sesame sauce – EUR 9

All dishes are served for the simultaneous sharing at the guests of a table according to Chinese
tradition.

One of the aforementioned dishes is also offered as a daily changing special at the package price of
EUR 28, including a small salad, water and coffee special between 12:30 and 18:00 at Brasserie
Quarré.

The master chef spoils the breakfast guests of the Grandhotel at the Brandenburg Gate in the
morning with small, refined Dim Sum tastings of his minced meat-based Nanjing pork Shao-Mai –
presented for the eyes and the palate in a steaming basket. Gourmets with little time for an exquisite snack break can look forward to delicate glutinous rice balls filled with sesame sauce to go in the Adlon To Go store next to the hotel entrance, allowing their loved ones at home to share in this special treat.

The bright colours of traditional Chinese clothing, decorations and dragon boats also show up in the
evening in many colourful bar drinks, such as the Spice Gin Tonic, a classic slightly spicy
interpretation with juniper berries, or The Avocado Ranch, a juicy green wellness cocktail with
yoghurt.

An indulgent excursion into Chinas rich tea history is also not to be missed. The Moonlight White
is a wine-infused fusion served in a small cup with the famous white Anji tea, allowing guests to
pay relaxed homage to Asias centuries-old tea culture in the Lobby Bar or with a premium cigar in
the Elephant Bar.
