Hotel Adlon Kempinski celebrates 25 years of Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer and 15 years of Ladies and Gentlemen in Red with a glamorous end-of-year finale

This year, the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin offer more than one reason to celebrate, as the iconic hotel also marks the stylish finale of the 25th anniversary year of its exclusive gourmet restaurant Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer and 15 years of Ladies and Gentlemen in Red, with a gala immersed in glamorous red and gold.

Even its opening date, 29 February 2000, underlines the distinctiveness of this fine dining restaurant with its panoramic view of the Brandenburg Gate, which has earned numerous accolades ever since. Following the reopening of the legendary Adlon in August 1997, TV celebrity chef Karlheinz Hauser, then head chef of the historic hotel, successfully implemented his vision of a Michelin-starred restaurant offering dishes of outstanding quality, echoing the former Adlon, under the guidance of the esteemed first General Manager, Gianni van Daalen. Since February 2025, under the inspired leadership of gourmet chef Jonas Zörner, Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer, named after the renowned hotel founder, continues to be recognised as one of Germany’s foremost fine dining destinations.

The six-course New Year's Eve menu put together by Jonas Zörner and his team for this extraordinary evening promises to enchant guests' palates just as it did 25 years ago, once again featuring Imperial caviar and finest truffles. Other highlights include organic duck liver, carabinero rosso with pomelo and pumpkin, Breton sole with bouchot mussels, saddle of venison with beetroot in a meticulously crafted sauce Rouennaise, Wagyu cheeks with Brussels sprouts, quince and smoked eel and white Alba truffle with vanilla and almond. The menu is priced at EUR 1,225 per person and includes a welcome glass of champagne, tailored wine pairings selected by Head Sommelier Hans-Martin Konrad, all accompanying beverages during the dinner, and a midnight snack. Live vocal performances accompanied by keyboard and guitar, conceptualised under the artistic direction of pianist Joseph Odogu, will set an elegant tone for the evening’s entertainment.

For 15 years, the Ladies in Red and Gentlemen in Red have embodied exceptional service across the 75 Kempinski Hotels, including the Adlon, delivering unforgettable moments through dedication, expertise, creativity and genuine care. Recognised globally by their refined red attire, which features culturally inspired details, the Ladies and Gentlemen in Red are more than reliable service providers. Their role as brand ambassadors for Kempinski Hotels has become internationally renowned, with their signature red uniform serving as a symbol of distinctive luxury. In addition to arranging guest experiences, presenting welcome tokens and handwritten notes, their responsibilities also include sharing insights about the city of Berlin, showcasing the hotel, and comforting younger guests by helping locate a lost teddy bear.

‘Our charming ladies and gentlemen in red are here every day for our guests, offering thoughtful support and sincere warmth, finding the perfect solution to every request,’ says Karina Ansos, Managing Hotel Director. ‘To mark the conclusion of their 15th anniversary year, we honour them with a special tribute: this year, New Year’s Eve decorations will see the Adlon – enhanced by radiant gold accents – illuminated in the signature red which represents our Ladies and Gentlemen in red all year round.’

On the final evening of the year, the Adlon promises its customary exceptional gastronomic experience in its elegantly designed halls and restaurants. Following a champagne welcome from the hotel’s management in the Lobby at 18:00, Karina Ansos will welcome all New Year’s Eve guests and wish them an enjoyable evening in their selected dining venues, which open at 19:00.

Rico Kägebein, Head Chef at Brasserie Quarré, and his team will offer guests of the German-French restaurant facing the Brandenburg Gate a refined five-course meal paired with live music by a trio of keyboard, saxophone and vocals. Courses include scallops, Ossetra caviar, bergamot jelly and edible gold leaf, organic duck liver, souffléed Breton lobster in Vadouvan curry sauce and succulent US beef with Alba truffles. Desserts by Chef Pâtissier Steffen Holle include sweet tomato and raspberry meringue, Jivara mousse with mango, calamansi gel and green tea sorbet with apple blossoms. The menu is priced at EUR 780 per person and includes wine pairings and a midnight snack. Vegan options feature a delicate tart of herb saithlings with gold leaf, La Ratte potatoes with Alba truffles and kohlrabi and celery cannelloni with mustard caviar. A three-course children’s menu, featuring baked turbot fillet, corn-fed chicken with mashed potatoes and chocolate mousse with mango, is also available at EUR 74.

The red and gold-adorned ballroom of Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin sets the scene for a vibrant New Year’s Eve Ball, complemented by a sumptuous five-course menu from Banquet Chef Eric Kissmann. The seven-member live band Chris Genteman Group will perform spirited dance music leading up to midnight. Culinary highlights include spring chicken with grilled black salsify, tuna tataki with Osietra caviar and coriander cream, turbot with lobster and orange beurre blanc, a duo of beef and veal with port wine and Alba truffles, and sweet pickled tomatoes and raspberries with oxalis flowers. The price of EUR 680 per person (children, EUR 74) includes drinks and a midnight snack. Vegan selections are also available.

For those who prefer a more spontaneous dining experience in a club-like atmosphere, the event location 1907, named after the founding year of the original Hotel Adlon, will serve a relaxed five-course menu from 18:00 to 22:30. Guests may also order all of these dishes à la carte. The evening concludes with live music, including vocals and guitar.

Beginning at 23:00 and lasting until 2:30, the sophisticated and festively adorned Lobby Lounge & Bar, centred around the elephant fountain, becomes the heart of the New Year’s Eve festivities. Guests will enjoy champagne during the celebratory midnight countdown, with live singing and DJ chart hits inviting all to sing, dance and ring in the new year in style.

Table reservations for all venues may be made by telephone at +49 30 2261 1959 or via email at [email protected]. Professional childcare is available from 18:00 to 1:00, ensuring a delightful evening for all members of the family at Hotel Adlon Kempinski.
