Comeback of the Adlon Pool

Berlin, 10 September 2024 – After an eight-month creative break, the time has finally come: the newly designed ADLON POOL unveils its transformation into one of the most modern wellness oases in the luxury hotel industry. The gently light-flooded spa ambience and a harmonious combination of warm materials, such as limed oak wood refined with reflective elements, glittering plastered surfaces, selected lounge furniture and wall coverings upholstered in shimmering, shiny fabric, convey a feeling of calm and serenity to guests of the Hotel Adlon Kempinski. The centrepiece of the Adlon’s latest highlight, which shines in a completely new style after an intensive all-round renovation, is the swimming pool tiled in elegant black with a marbling effect and sophisticated lighting that creates a bathing experience as if one were in a sparkling evening sea. The entire lighting concept was developed in collaboration with the Berlin lighting design office, L-Plan LIGHTING DESIGN, whose innovative LED technology in illuminated wall surfaces spectacularly highlights the front of the swimming pool and underlines the relaxed atmosphere.

Under the experienced interior design direction of jagdfeld design KG, the luxurious furnishing concept of the newly christened ADLON POOL once again bears the proven signature of designer Anne Maria Jagdfeld, who has successfully shaped the iconic appearance of the internationally award-winning Hotel Adlon since its reopening in its 27th year. In close cooperation with the Kempinski Hotel Group and DH Deutsche Development Holding, a relaxation retreat of around 900 square metres was created with a deliberately discreet and modern design, inviting guests to relax in bright, clear surroundings, including a fireplace lounge, extensive relaxation areas and a well-tempered whirlpool.

“We are thrilled to have created a modern and timeless retreat for our guests in the best sense of the word, which is in no way inferior to the much-vaunted ‘Adlon Spa by Resense.’ The new meditative ambience enables a completely new feel-good experience,” explains interior designer Anne Maria Jagdfeld. Since the turn of the year 2023/2024, the former appearance of a Roman spa has given way to a fundamentally redesigned, elegant island of relaxation in the vibrant city centre of Berlin, whose extensive range of offers leaves nothing to be desired.

The repertoire for an extravagant timeout at the ADLON POOL is varied and, in addition to the swimming pool and whirlpool, includes an extensive sauna area with a wide range of treatments from the Italian spa specialist, STARPOOL. These include, for example, a Finnish sauna, a temperature-reduced soft sauna, a marble-looking steam bath in the architecture of an Arabian hammam, an ice waterfall and a refreshing ice plunge pool. Exciting experience showers, including those from WDT Werner Dosiertechnik, with harmonising colour changes; music, including the sound of the sea or birdsong; fragrant mint spray mist; as well as massage and Caribbean rain effects in varying droplet thickness, make showering a highlight for all the senses.

An ultra-modern 24-hour GYM with digitally controllable high-tech fitness equipment from the sports equipment expert, TECHNOGYM, which combines exercise with an extensive entertainment selection, including training videos, news, films and popular TV series, is already a popular hotspot for sports enthusiasts. In addition, there are strength-building dumbbells, treadmills, stair climbers, bicycle ergometers, steppers and a rowing machine that meet the highest demands for professional workouts -available on request and by appointment- also under the guidance of an experienced personal trainer.

In true Adlon-style, a newly designed, spacious pool bar with exclusive furnishings also ensures the highest level of culinary indulgence. Freshly prepared fruit and vegetable juices, healthy bowls, Caesar salad, Wiener schnitzel with cucumber and potato salad and, of course, the popular ADLON currywurst with edible gold leaf, as well as cocktails, tea and coffee specialties, provide a variety of moments of pleasure to relax and unwind.
The ADLON POOL, in the basement of the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, symbolises an immersion into a new world of relaxation and letting go of everyday life. “We have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of our wellness area and are delighted to be able to harmoniously complement our “Adlon Spa by Resense” with the newly designed ADLON POOL in the same, ultra-modern style to offer our guests an all-round perfect relaxation experience,” Adlon Hotel Director Karina Ansos proudly states.

For the time being, the new ADLON POOL at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski will be open daily from 7:00 to 21:00 and is available to hotel guests free of charge. The opening hours may be adjusted as required once the preferred visiting times are known. Day tickets for external guests, including use of the sauna area and fitness room, bathrobe and towel service, as well as complimentary tea, water and fruit are available from Monday to Friday for EUR 65, and on Saturdays and Sundays for EUR 85, on request and subject to availability. Appointments can be booked by calling +49 030 2261 1792 or sending an email to [email protected].
