Adlon Flower Atelier & Boutique Celebrates Advent Wreath Workshop

Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin - Property amenity

Acreative start to the festive season with elegant decorations, expert tips and culinary Advent treats

Fir, silk pine and cypress branches exuding forest air; high-quality candles; and timelessly elegant, sparkling Christmas decorations alongside fine craftsmanship from the Erzgebirge region – these and many other treasures will be the ‘ingredients’ for handcrafted Advent wreaths, each of which will be unique, at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin on 29 November.

Since the Adlon Flower Atelier & Boutique, with its warm wood décor and daily array of luxurious flowers, opened in the legendary five-star hotel around a year ago, which allows the public to view the professional production of its floral art that can be admired throughout the hotel, demand for a floristry workshop has increased.

‘Especially in the time before Christmas, many people are keen to decorate their homes in style. My team and I would like to offer Advent enthusiasts an exclusive workshop event, giving them a first glimpse into our “Adlon decoration secrets” and personal tips and tricks,’ says Mario Weidner, head florist at the iconic hotel at the Brandenburg Gate. ‘In the colourful and fragrant atmosphere of our flower atelier, we will be supporting eight interested people at our large atelier table as they design their own handmade Adlon Advent wreath, which will add a festive touch to any living room,’ says the design expert.

There are virtually no limits to creativity, as workshop participants can choose from a huge selection of colourful, partly hand-blown Christmas baubles after making their wreaths. They can also order individual, limited-edition Adlon porcelain baubles from the luxury brand, Dibbern, in various designs, featuring the name of the legendary hotel, as tree decorations for their homes.

After a glass of Champagne to welcome them, Mario Weidner and florists Laura Pfister and Kamila Schweitz are on hand to advise their ‘Adlon short-term colleagues’ and, if desired, inspire them with ideas for classic or modern Advent wreaths in a single colour scheme or in a rich variety of colours. An aromatic, natural Christmas look with cinnamon, anise, dried orange peel and pine cones can also be creatively designed here. Decorate to the heart's content with colourful ribbons and bows made from high-quality materials, stars, mini reindeer, wooden figures and glittering highlights such as shimmering golden angel hair, which creates a sparkling Advent atmosphere.

The visit to the Adlon is topped off with a culinary stopover, during which workshop enthusiasts can enjoy savoury and sweet snacks from the kitchen of Brasserie Quarré, complemented by a selection of cold, sparkling and hot drinks, including mulled wine and non-alcoholic punch. Rico Kägebein, head chef at Brasserie Quarré, will serve burrata with cherry tomatoes and BBQ pepper, Iberico ham with figs and mint, Label Rouge salmon fillet with saffron and risotto, and cordon bleu with Comté cheese and truffles. Head Pastry Chef, Steffen Holle, and his team will prepare samples of the hotel's homemade Adlon stollen, a selection of the finest Advent cookies and a sophisticated almond Baumkuchen dessert perfect for the winter season.

Once refreshed and pampered, a shopping stroll through the boutique area of the outlet is recommended before heading home. Here visitors will find treasures such as Adlon bathrobes, fluffy hotel towels, Adlon books, the Adlon plush elephant with an original blue pageboy cap, button-eyed teddy bears, unicorns, hedgehogs and polar bears from Steiff, including some with red Christmas hats and mini scarves. Bound bouquets or bespoke arrangements, including the white amaryllis ‘Casablanca’, its vibrant red “Ferrari” version or the extra-large luxury rose ‘Pink Floyd’, as well as the long-lasting, freeze-dried roses in the black Adlon box, are popular gifts that spread joy.

The workshop event takes place from 11:00 to around 13:00, requires no prior knowledge and, at an introductory price of EUR 199 per person, includes all plant parts, decorative elements and expert advice, as well as snacks and drinks served during the event. Registration for the limited number of spots is accepted by email at [email protected] or by telephone at +49 30 2261 1959.

The Adlon Flower Atelier & Boutique is directly accessible via the hotel entrance at Behrenstrasse 72 and is open for Christmas shopping until the end of the year, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00 and additionally on Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00. Just in time for the Advent season, the Adlon Christmas stollen and all the luxury hotel's festive Christmas and New Year's Eve packages will also be available for purchase here. With personalised Adlon gift vouchers for all hotel services, experiences such as Adlon Afternoon Tea, Adlon Champagne Brunch or a day of relaxation at the Adlon Spa by Resense with use of the state-of-the-art pool area can be elegantly packaged and taken home as gifts.
