Adlon Afternoon Tea kicks off the season – with delicacies from Bavaria

Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin - Restaurant

The aroma of freshly baked scones, the finest porcelain, and the gentle sounds of the piano: the legendary Afternoon Tea at  Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is back from its summer break – and kicking off the new season with a special highlight. From September 6 to 7, 2025, the patisserie team from Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich will be guests and will present their exclusive autumn edition on the elegant Bel Etage.

The Munich menu is served by head pastry chef Ian Baker, head chef Korbinian Pinzenöller, and tea sommelier Roberto Campanelli. On the savoury side, creations such as flambéed salmon with sour cream and quinoa or sous vide roast beef with Hokkaido pumpkin, pearl onions, and horseradish will delight your taste buds. The sweet part will delight you with a candied quince tart, a walnut financier with milk chocolate and caramel, and a classic Mont Blanc.

“Our afternoon tea stands for subtle compositions, seasonal ingredients, and artisanal perfection. We are very honoured to be able to present it at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski,” says Ian Baker. “Especially in Berlin, where tradition and modern culinary culture meet, we want to show guests how we interpret British tea culture with a dash of Bavarian autumn in Munich.”

Just one week later, from 12 to 14 September, the Berlin team, including head pastry chef Steffen Holle, banquet chef Eric Kissmann, and tea master Barbara Hanimann, will travel to Munich for a culinary return visit to the historic hotel's listed Nymphenburg Room. There, they will bring their own interpretation of British tea culture – from Berlin currywurst as a humorous greeting from the capital to fine savory creations such as the Adlon Tatar Stulle, goose liver terrine with plum or a lobster tartlet, to innovative desserts such as the currant taco with Opalys chocolate cream, the “Lady in Red” apple with cinnamon mascarpone cream, and classic scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream.

“For me, afternoon tea is like a little stage play—each component has its moment, and together they tell a story,” explains Steffen Holle. “In Munich, we want to stage this story in the Berlin style: charming, a little surprising, and with attention to detail.”

The autumn edition of Munich Afternoon Tea is available on September 6 and 7 at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin for EUR 89 per person, including tea and a non-alcoholic welcome cocktail, or EUR 99 including a glass of champagne.

Reservations can be made by phone at +49 30 2261 1959 or by email at [email protected]. The Adlon Afternoon Tea will take place again from 3 September, Thursday through Sunday, between 14:00 and 17:00 on the Bel Etage.
