Theatre, opera and music

In Berlin, opera lovers have a choice of three renowned opera houses. The Deutsche Oper in Charlottenburg is the largest of them.

Not far from Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is Berlin's oldest opera house, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, as well as the Komische Oper, both with their magnificent interiors.

Concerts are part of Berlin, and live music in particular is part of the DNA of the German capital. Between the Waldbühne and the Olympiastadion, the Columbiaclub or the Kulturhaus, international superstars of rock and pop music always find their way onto one of Berlin's countless stages.

Berlin is home to an unusual mix of large traditional houses and small off-theatres. The Deutsches Theater is probably one of the best-known traditional theatres. Lovers of classical plays are sure to find what they are looking for in the programme of this award-winning ensemble. For critical and experimental theatre, the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz is the place to go. A fresh breeze also blows at the Berliner Ensemble, named after Bertolt Brecht's world-famous company. In addition to Bertolt Brecht's works, contemporary plays are also at the centre of the repertoire.
